2 Fun Trips with my Dad!

As this fits under the 2017-2018 school year, I'd like to share two trips in this combined post that I took with my dad. Although fun, both trips had a component of scholastic activities that made me feel as if I were doing something productive towards my post-secondary plans.

On my trip to Canada during Spring Break, we first stopped in Calgary, where I had a campus tour of the University of Calgary. It was a beautiful university - very modern - and I loved the student body that was present. After the campus tour, we drove to Banff. While Calgary had the university and the Calgary Tower as main attractions, Banff was a little tourist town centered among three different ski resorts of Alberta's Rockies: Sunshine VillageSki Norquay and Lake Louise Mountain Resort.

In February, I performed a solo on flute for the annual UIL competition and advanced to the state level. This next performance was to be held at the University of Texas in Austin in May. With my AP tests taken and my final exemptions, I decided it would be worth it to make the trip to Austin for my next solo competition. Since the drive to Austin is a little long, I thought, why not make a UT campus tour also?

Even the airport is artistic.

UCalgary, modern indeed.

I got a 1 rating on my solo, Syrinx by Claude Debussy.
