DIY Mirror Frame Renovation!

When I asked my friend what she wanted for her birthday, she said she wanted artwork (I've given her a few of my pieces in the past), but I also noticed she did not have a big mirror in her room! I know I can't live without my mirror in my room, how else am I supposed to approve to myself of my daily outfits? So I decided to combine art and a mirror into a present...
All I needed to use for this project was an ugly mirror, some wooden letters to match the name, some brushes, some paint (I used chalky acrylic and metallic), a hot glue gun (with the glue, of course), some fabric flowers, and a little bit of creativity!
BEFORE -- just an old, ugly mirror.
I had a little help from Ginger!

ICCC Annual Gala Night

Last night I attended the Italian Cultural Community Center's Gala honoring the Houston-Galveston Cardinal, Daniel DiNardo. Although it was an event intended for a very important religious figure, there was some dancing and fun (along with wine-tasting and silent auctions). This night made me realize how important Italian Culture is to those that have the responsibility in maintaining it. There are lots of people of Italian descent that live in the Houston area and across the nation, yet the culture is increasingly diminishing. The ICCC of Houston is a non-profit organization that has the goal to conserve the Italian culture present in our fellow Italians. Here are some pictures of this extravagant night (as you can tell, I enjoyed dressing up for this event)!

My brother thinks he's so cool.

I cringe I look so awkward yikes

The food was delicious!

A day at the Houston Zoo

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy with the starting buzz of summer! I went to the Houston Zoo on Thursday with my bestie and her mom and little sister. It was my first time at the zoo, and it was a fun experience! From what my friend's mom told me, the Houston Zoo has expanded a lot over the last couple of years. The Houston Zoo, which is the second most visited zoo in the United States, houses over 900 species. Indeed, I observed and learned about animals I had never even heard about. We visited the the aquatic animals, the mammals, the reptiles, the birds, and even the creepy-crawly insects. One thing that I thought was interesting was that from some of the environments in which the animals were placed you could see the giant skyscrapers and cranes of downtown Houston in the background. This was truly a unique experience: where else can you see elephants and huge buildings in the same picture? It was so cool! I definitely would not mind a second trip there this summer.
Here are some pictures (yes, some of these are from my snap):

New day, new scrub!

Hey guys,
So I tried out a face scrub from the same Homemade for Elle website. The scrub I decided to make this time was the Blueberry and Honey scrub, which turned out to be so good. I read that honey is a an ingredient that contains antibacterial and antiseptic properties that help get ride of acne, so this may explain why my skin felt to clean afterwards. Blueberries have a lot of health-supportive properties as well. No more needs to be said, just try it! Here is the recipe:

  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar
Combine all ingredients in a small food processor, and blend until smooth.  Add a generous layer to clean face, and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Rinse clean with warm water.
